As you think, So shall you become.

I live by the principle of “as you think, so shall you become.” If our minds are full of worry, fear, doubt and confusion, we will never truly have inner peace. I am often asked by people how I remain so calm and peaceful, even in the midst of stressful situations and my answer is through years of training my mind. Growing up I was always the quiet kid, and most people just assumed I didn’t have anything to say. I had lots to say, I was just keeping it to myself. I kept every unresolved issue, negative comment and unexpressed feeling trapped inside my head. Over the years these thoughts would often rear their ugly head and remind me …

You will never amount to anything.

You won’t finish college.

You’re not smart enough.

You’re not pretty enough.

Stop trying to be something you’re not.

After years of struggling with worry, fear and doubt, I finally realized that my mind is an instrument, and that I can train it to believe what I want. I could remove the negative thoughts planted by others and replace those thoughts with calming, positive and empowering thoughts. Today I train my mind through daily meditation, creative visualization and other mindfulness practices.
